The Voyager 1 probe, launched in 1977, is the farthest human-made object. It's about 24 billion km away — that's 0.0025 light-years. It's still in the Kuiper Belt. It hasn't left the solar system in any meaningful sense. It would take Voyager 75,000 years to reach the nearest star.
The solar system is not a neighborhood. It's a desert. The planets are specks of dust separated by impossibly vast distances. When you look up at the night sky, you're not seeing "space."
